Anita Granger
It is with sadness that we announce the passing away of our wife, mother and grandmother, Anita Granger, in Moose Jaw Extendicare after a brave battle with cancer. Anita Marie Granger, nee Desjardins, was born in Lorrainville, Que on March 20, 1928, the second-oldest child of Frederic and Eva Dallaire. In 1930, her parents moved to Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan. She attended school at the 'Sisters of the Cross' convent in Willow Bunch, and began her working career as a clerk in a small 'General Store' in that same town. Her next job was working in the laundry department of the small hospital, but she soon used her talents to work as a 'Nurses-Aide', which she dearly loved and would become her lifelong career. In 1962, Anita married Rolland Granger, from which marriage two daughters, Pauline (Lyndon Nystrom) and Gisele (Bruce) were born. Along with two other children from a previous marriage, Maurice (Lynne Knutilla) and Joanne Paul, who left the nest early to create for themselves a career in the armed forces, Anita followed her husband Rolland to various towns in Saskatchewan, always working as a Nurses-Aide in either the Hospital or Nursing Home in whichever community we lived in, and always caring for her children and home as well. After retirement Anita and her husband moved to Moose Jaw where they played cards with friends, and continued to enjoy visiting with their children, grandchildren and many friends. Anita's favorite pass-time was knitting, which talent she put to good use creating sweaters and other clothing items for her family down through the years. After retirement, she continued to knit, and in the process created many dozens of clothing items each year, which she then donated for needy people in Baker Lake, Nunavut. These people appreciated her sweaters and blankets, and have nicknamed her 'Mrs. Reindeer'. Anita was also a very good cook, with her 'spaghetti-sauce' and 'chocolate cake' being favorites with her family and grandchildren. Anita was baptized into the Catholic Church at birth, and remained a staunch and devoted Christian all her life. A Funeral Mass for Anita will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1064 Third Ave. NW, Moose Jaw on Friday, December 11th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Father Rick Krofchech will be the presiding celebrant. Anita loved everybody and everything in God's Creation, except flowers! So, in compliance with Anita's singular phobia, we respectfully request that, instead of flowers, donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. In living memory of Anita, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
