Passed away on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015, at the Dr. Walter Templeman Hospital on Bell Island aged 90 years. Patricia was born June 24th, 1925 on Bell Island and was a lifelong area resident. She worked hard all of her life to raise her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Peter (Bud) Sweeney, two grandchildren Denise and Gylne Bourdon, son-in-law Gerald Bourdon, son Kenneth Sweeney, and daughter Daphne (Sweeney) Carroll. Her brothers also precede Patricia in death: Vince McGrath, Patrick McGrath, and Michael McGrath. Her lifetime friend, Angela Warren, also precedes Patricia in death. Leaving to mourn her five children Keith (Golda) Sweeney; Rosalind Sweeney-Bourdon; Eileen Sweeney; Lydia (John) Peddle; Kevin (Sharon) McGrath; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; son-in-law Syl Carroll and daughter-in-law Sharon Sweeney. Visitation will be held at Pendergast Funeral Home Friday 12-9 pm, Saturday 11 am - 1:30 pm. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Michael's Church at 2 pm with internment to follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Bell Island. The family would like to invite all family and friends to St. Michael's Hall on Bell Island to celebrate Patricia's life. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Dr. Walter Templeman Hospital for the care given to Patricia.
