It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Brian 'Wine Eyes' Bates on Dec. 12, 2015 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Buddy and Evelyn (Rigby) Bates. Brian was an active member of Local 92 Edmonton Construction Labor Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, walking his buddy “Yarder”, all sports and especially attending his granddaughter Morgan’s hockey games.
He is survived by his wife Mary (Gillis), daughter Leanne (Nolan Walker), son Lawrence (Rhonda), sisters Wilma MacSween , Evelyn (Ron) MacDonald and brother Lawrence (Dinn), Grandchildren Morgan Rory and Brydan.
Besides his parents he was also predeceased by sister Leonese and brother Bryon.
Cremation has taken place and a chapel service to celebrate Brian’s life will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Army, Navy & Airforce, Smith St., New Waterford. All are welcome.
