Alma Elvina Dingwell, 89 of Bedford passed away, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Halifax Infirmary, QEII.
Born in Valleyfield, Bonavista Bay, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Josiah and Katie (Attwood) Stratton. Alma was a member of the United Church and attended services in Newfoundland, Sydney and most recently, Knox United Church in Lower Sackville. She was a teacher, Sunday school teacher, devoted wife and mother and was dedicated to helping others.
Alma is survived by her children, Carson (Debbie), Dartmouth; John, Toronto; Margaret (Arleigh) Hillman, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Angela (Dingwell) Woods and Tammy (Dingwell) Cadegan, Fort McMurray, Alta.; John Hillman and Katie Hillman, Halifax; Emily Hillman, Lower Sackville; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Ainsley Cadegan, Farrah Woods; special cousin, Muriel Lagan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Murdoch Edward; sisters, Phyllis and Louise; brother, Carson.
All are welcome to attend an interment service at Oakridge Memory Gardens, Middle Sackville, at a date to be determined in 2016.
If so desired, donations in Alma’s memory to Knox United Church, Knox United Church (General Fund), P.O. Box 210, Lower Sackville, N.S., B4C 2S9 or Canadian Cancer Society are welcomed.
