RODGERS, ANNE-VIOLA (MacDonald) -
Anne Viola (MacDonald) Rodgers passed away peacefully surrounded by love on December 14, 2015 at Kings Way Care Centre. Born in Saint John, NB on July 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Mary Ann (Buckley) MacDonald.
Loving mother of Beverley (Bob) Sheppard, Sharon (John) Goobie, Henry (Brenda) Allen and Crena (Peter) Peters. Survived by several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as sisters Margot Vey, Sheila Mahar, Edna McCutcheon, and brothers Bob MacDonald (Lois), and Fred MacDonald (Becky). Predeceased by sisters Marion MacDonald, Blanche Clayton, Kathy Mahoney; brothers Jim, Jack, Teddy and Freddy MacDonald.
Predeceased by former spouses Frank Bailey, Tom Rodgers and the father of her children, Ron Allen.
After raising her family and moving back to Saint John, Anne gained her independence when she entered the work force for the first time with a position in Housekeeping at the Nurses’ Residence. She was also successful when she applied later for a position in the General Hospital. She continued working there, taking part in the move to the new Saint John Regional Hospital where she worked in the X-ray Department until her retirement.
Anne's family would like to thank all the staff at Kings Way Care Centre for being her second family and for making her feel loved and appreciated every day and for the outstanding care while she was a resident there.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 3 p.m., with visitations from 11 a.m. until service time. Reception to follow. Interment will take place in Mosher Hill Cemetery at a later date.
