It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a devoted husband, father, son and brother, Kenny on Dec. 14, 2015, at home with his wife of 43 years, Jean, by his side.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Adrian Bates and survived by mother, Florence Bates.
Kenny will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Jean (Clare); daughters, Tammy (Gary) Covey, Edmonton Alta.; Carrie (Troy) Maloney, Howie Centre; Lisa (Jason) Jones, Pembroke Ont.; and Kyla (Liam) Murphy, Lower Sackville, N.S. He deeply loved his grandchildren and they will surely miss their POPPY. Also left to mourn are his sisters, Linda (Kevin) Costello, Karen (Leonard) LeLievre, Julie (Terry) LeLievre, Priscella (James) Matheson; brothers, Bernie (Gail), Paul (Pearl), Don (Muriel) and Brian; brothers-in-law, Billy (Dianne) Clare, Leonard (Madonna) Clare; sister-in-law, Nancy (Lawrence) Malcolm and many nieces and nephews.
Kenny spent his entire life in the Sydney area working as a flooring installer. He enjoyed driving all over the island, fishing with his grandchildren, swinging the occassional golf club and most of all throwing darts at French Club and at branch 12
Everyone will miss his michievious smile, wonderful sense of humour and his contagious laughter that filled up a room, but we know that our beautiful white haired, blue eyed, gentle giant will look down and watch over us everyday.
Besides his father, Adrian, Kenny was predeceased by his brother, Vincie; father and mother-in-law, Bucky and Mae Clare.
