DOUCETTE, Jean Frances – age 71, Hubbard’s Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born August 21, 1944 in Hubbard’s Point, she was a daughter of the late Laurent and Isabelle (LeBlanc) Doucette. She worked in the housekeeping department at Villa Saint Joseph-du-Lac. Jean was a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, loved playing Radio CIFA bingo, making puzzles and baking, usually giving most of it away. She loved a good laugh and was passionate about kids, she was always at her best when there were kids around. Jean was affectionately known as “Tante Jean” by many people. She is survived by her sisters, Doris Deveau, Lake Doucette; Pauline (Hayden) Landry and Therese Surette, both of Hubbard’s Point, as well as by a sister-in-law, Janine Doucette, Amirault’s Hill, god-children, Maureen Foster and Lisa Landry-Shaw and many nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Doucette and brothers-in-law, Harold Deveau and Russell Surette. Visitation took place from 7-9 p.m., Friday with prayers at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 19 at Saint Anne’s Church, Ste-Anne-du-Ruisseau, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Tri-County Site of the VON or to a charity of choice.
