Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, December 18, 2015, Sylvia Alice Thornhill, RN, (nee Mercer) of Clarke's Beach, aged 76 years. Predeceased by husband, Cyril V. (Nov. 3, 2015); parents Frank and Geraldine Mercer, (nee Piercey); parents-in-law Captain Arch and Ruth Thornhill (nee Williams): brother Eric N. Mercer, sisters Geraldine Baker, Carol Roberta (died in infancy); brothers-in-law Robert Dyckson, sister-in-law Loretta Mercer; Leaving to mourn sons, Paul (Natasha) Thornhill, Andrew (Cherilyn Carson); sisters Emily Dyckson, Lillian (Harry) Crawford; brothers Austin (Rubyann) Mercer, Howard (Carol) Mercer, grandchildren Madeline Carson-Thornhill, Oliva Carson-Thornhill, Joshua Thornhill and Isaac Thornhill; brother-in-law Ches Baker; sisters-in-law Catherine (Harry) Steele, Florence Dobson; brother-in-law Roland (Bonnie) Thornhill; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Sylvia was a graduate of the Grace Hospital School of Nursing (1960). Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service and Inurnment at a later date.
