Marjorie Johnson
Marjorie Marie Johnson (nee Monkhouse)
July 24,1921 - December 12, 2015.
It is with sadness mixed with peace that we announce that Marjorie Marie Johnson of Avonlea, Sask. has passed from this life into the loving arms of Jesus at the age of 94 years. Mom was a loving, kind & generous lady who challenged her family to do their very best. She bore her burdens with grace and dignity, never complaining. Her favourite line when asked how she was feeling would be: "doing good”. Mom loved family gatherings with an abundance of food and laughter. A talented artisan, she crocheted over 30 full sized tablecloths, knit many baby layettes, made quilts and did beautiful appliqué work. She also loved to cook and bake, cinnamon rolls and pies being her specialty. She was an independent soul who moved to Weyburn Sask. in 1939 to study Psychiatric Nursing. She worked at the Weyburn Nursing Home until her retirement in 1978. She loved her trips to Texas with her husband Walter in the winters where she golfed, danced and met many new friends. Marjorie leaves to mourn her children, David (Gwen) Garner, Dana (Douglas) Fitzpatrick, Douglas (Judy) Garner, seven grandchildren, Deni Fitzpatrick, Colin Fitzpatrick (Jennifer), Greg Garner (Amanda), Carla Nelson (Jeff), Dawn Garner (Nolan Gross) and Stacey Garner as well as seven great-grandchildren, Anika and Nathan Fitzpatrick, Bray and Tanner Nelson, Jaya Garner and Hunter and Haley Gross along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Alice Monkhouse, husband Walter M. Johnson and her siblings Edward Monkhouse, Melva Aikens and Erma Harrison. Marjorie's family would like to thank the caring staff of the Coteau Range Manor, Avonlea, Dr. Llewelyn-Williams, the staff of unit 5E, Regina General Hospital, as well as the staff of the palliative care unit at Pasqua Hospital for their loving care in her final days. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, 1755 Stadacona St. West, Moose Jaw, Sask. S6H 7K7. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
