Lewis Comeau
Born In: Saulnierville Station
COMEAU, Lewis Emery -With great sadness, the family of Lewis Emery Comeau, announces his passing, at the age of 81. He was peaceful, and surrounded by love and family. Born in Saulnierville Station, he was the son of the late Lucie (Maillet) and Alfred Comeau. He is also predeceased by his brothers, Denis and Jerry. Lew married his beloved Lorraine, in 1960. Even after 55 years, he was still picking flowers for her. Their three children adored him: sons, David (Trish), Randy (Wendy), and daughter Susan (Mark); grandchildren Melissa, Jennifer, Ben, Tom, and Carolina, as well as great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Chloe, and Mason. He is also survived by his sisters, Sr Helene Comeau and Claire Dol, as well as the many nieces and nephews he held so dear. Lew retired several years ago from L.G. Trask Agency in Yarmouth, where he was a well-known insurance agent for Yarmouth and the French Shore. He loved his work, and he loved helping people. He was a life member of the Kinsmen Club, putting in countless hours of volunteer service, and enjoying great fellowship. After his retirement, Lew was an invaluable advisor to his son, Randy, when he started his business, RC Communications. Above all, Lew was a family man, who doted on his wife, kids and grandkids. His favorite times were sitting around the table, talking, debating or telling stories. Everyone was always welcome around the Comeau table. We hosted many friends and family, and Lew loved a full house. He was always happy to “throw on the barbeque”, always reveling in taking care of everyone, with his easy laugh, his pragmatic shrug, and his wonderful smile. We’d like to thank Dr. Tyler Green and the nurses on 3 East at the Yarmouth Hospital, all of whom were so kind. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held on December 29th, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm with prayers at 8 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Ambrose Cathedral, in Yarmouth, on December 30th at 2 pm with Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. A reception will take place in the Saint Ambrose Jubilee room and will follow the interment. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation, or the Kinsmen Club of Canada.
