Passed away suddenly at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, Ont., on March 28, 2008 in his 86th year. Son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Hector will be missed. He leaves his loving wife of 62 years Cecilia, two daughters, Joan and Judy, one son Robert, seven grandchildren: Chris, Kim, Kathleen, Ryan, Lindsay, Julie and Greg and two great-grandchildren: Dani and Nate, sister Nettie Duffett of N.L. and 1 other sister and 3 brothers. Born in Long Beach, N.L. on Dec. 9, 1921, the eldest son in a family of nine. At 17 he enlisted in the Royal Navy and served in Europe and Middle East during WWII. He became a Marine Diesel Engineer soon after the war and had a 30-year-career as Chief Engineer on various Canadian National Railway ferries sailing between N.L. and Nova Scotia. After his retirement he lived in Kirkfield ON, surrounded by his family and friends.
