It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara McLean, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and friends.
Born in Florence on Feb. 10, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Naomi Imrie.
She was a member of St. Stephens parish, Florence. She loved computers and helping others including the tops girls and pensioners club. She loved her family and her extended family of friends.
Barbara was talented with gifted hands that thought of others first, whether be on the computer, helping others, or having great chats with all of her tops girls, which she cherished and, loved so dearly. Barbara has many people she would like to thank for all of her love and support. The list is endless.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Richard (Dick), followed by her son and daughter (Brian and Noelle) and grandchildren (Tiffany and Zach). Barbara is also survived by sisters Betty Gracie, Kaye Squires, Helen Gerrow, Anne MacDonald, and Naomi Imrie.
Besides her parents Barbara was predeceased by her sister Shirley Tobin.
Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016 at 10 am in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. James Oliver officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
