Age 77, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia passed away 31 Dec. 2015 at the QEII VG Hospital. Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late James and Mary (Ings) Major. Jim was a member of the Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia. He enjoyed wood-working, chocolate fudge making and "experimental" wine making. Jim is survived by his wife Janet (Udle) Major, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; daughter: Heidi (Gary) Cameron, Dieppe, New Brunswick; son: Chris (Leah) Major, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; sister: Alice (Tom) Walsh, Mount Pearl, Newfoundland; brother: John (Alma) Major, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; grandchildren, Ben, Autumn and Dylan Major, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Dauphne Wyatt, St. John's Newfoundland, Allison (Jim) Goodwin, Toronto, Ontario and Sandy (Egbert) Walters, St. John's Newfoundland and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in Woodlawn United Church, Woodlawn Rd, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 8 at Woodlawn United Church, Woodlawn Rd, Dartmouth, Rev. Phillip Kennedy officiating, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society or a Charity of one's choice. Thank-you to all those that helped and supported Jim through his journey.
