Fraser (Fritz) Morrison MacLeod

Passed on: December 30th, 2015

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Fritz, announce his sudden passing on Dec. 30, 2015. He was the son of the late Dolores and A.D. MacLeod.
He was a member of the Crowdis Mountain Snowmobile Club, Bras d'Or Yacht Club, CLAC, Labourer's Union, Maritime Harness Racing Association, Standardbred Canada and “The Gillis Cats."
Fraser left Baddeck at a young age to pursue his love of horses. His first stop was P.E.I. From there he went to Montreal, Blue Bonnets Raceway. He got to travel many places following his passion of harness racing. When he returned home he worked at different jobs until settling into a 30-year career at the Bras d'Or Yacht Club. While home, he pursued his interests in hockey, horses and hunting. He enjoyed his time in the rink and watching his sons play hockey. He went out to the oil fields for a few years and then found his way back home.
He is survived by his partner Roxanne MacDougall and their son Tyler John (Carly), and son Ryan Kenneth (Tina) and Ryan's mother Debbie Fraser, all of Baddeck; brothers, Little John MacLeod (Gerry), Duncan, B.C., Brian Primeau (Diane), Grand Prairie, Alta.; sisters, Rosanne McNeil, Baddeck, Christena MacEachern (Duncan), North River; granddaughters, Jesslyn and Maya, Baddeck; and many nieces and nephews, and fondly remembered by Victor and Lorna MacDougall.
Fraser was predeceased by his parents, infant sister and brother-in-law Arthur McNeil. Cremation has taken place under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Knox Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brian MacLeod officiating. Reception to follow at the Bras d'Or Yacht Club. Burial at a later date.
