CARLETON, LAURA JEAN
It is with broken hearts that we regret to announce the passing of Laura  “Jean” (Watson) Carleton, 82, on Monday, December 21, 2015, at the Dartmouth General Hospital in Halifax Nova Scotia. 
Born July 10, 1933 in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late King William Edward and Laura A. (Gibbon) Watson. Jean is an Alumni of Saint John High School and served as a Sergeant in the Canadian Women's Army Corps and was a longstanding member of the Saint John Sergeant Mess, Women’s Regiment serving as President for several years. She worked with the Department of National Defence in the recruiting centre for over 30 years. In retirement Jean relocated to Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia and lived with her devoted daughter Deborah. In her humble way, Jean approached life with warmth, wit and a deep love for her family. Jean had a great love and respect for animals and enjoyed the companionship of her dogs over the years. Jean was always devoted to her family and as a mother, her commitment and love was immeasurable.  
Left to mourn are her three children; Robert Douglas (Linda) Paul, Lincoln, N.B., Russell William (Nancy-deceased) Paul, Saint John, N.B. and Deborah Jean (Cheryl) Carleton, Eastern Passage, N.S.; grandchildren Tracy (Paul) Williams and Shelley (Paul) Degen; nephew John Carr; nieces Carrie Watson and Krista (Watson) Hare and several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sister Doreen (Watson) Carr and leaves behind her brother William (Edna) Watson.
A Memorial Service will take place at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 9th, 2016 at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, N.B. (646-2424) with Rev. Leo Martin officiating.  Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery.
