Passed peacefully away at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion in the presence of his loving family in his 91st year, Louis Joseph O'Brien formerly of Morell PEI. Predeceased by his loving wife Jacqueline (Rochette) in 1971, brothers Jerome, Martin and John Joe, sister Eileen and second wife Isabelle (Smyth). Leaving to mourn his sons Louis (Sharon), Eamonn (Gail) and Stephen, daughters Cathy and Eileen (Torsten Schroeder), grandchildren Heather, Cameron, Stephanie, David, Marc, Benjamin, Emilie, Alexander and Philip, brother Frank (Rosella), sisters Leah Hogan, Marie Thompson (John) and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Louis was a decorated WWII veteran who was recently awarded the rank of Knight of the French Legion of Honour for his contribution to the liberation of France. He was also a teacher, an engineering technologist, an avid reader, a humourist and he loved a good game of bridge. The world has less singing in it already and he will be sorely missed. Special thanks to the staff of VP2 Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion for the care and love they showed to "Louie" during his stay. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of NL or Veterans Affairs Canada. Visitation to take place at Caul's Funeral Home on Thursday and Friday, from 12-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place from Mary Queen of Peace Parish on Saturday, January 9, 2015 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Louis memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
