Formerly of Brighton (Hove actually), England, passed peacefully away in St. John's, on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, surrounded by family and friends after a five year courageous and inspiring battle living with cancer, Peter Gent, age 74 years. Predeceased by mother Anne Wheeler and step-father Percy Wheeler; brother John; and sister Kathleen (England). Leaving to mourn with sad hearts and wonderful memories his wife of 40 years, Iris (nee Brown); daughters: Lainey and Shirley; grandchildren: Amy, Stevie and Eden; great-grandsons: Roman and Hari; sister Peg (England); brother Colin (Sally); brother-in-law Tom (England); brother-in-law Freeman Brown (Mondella); sisters-in-law: Irene Brown (Fergus O'Byrne) and Ivy Williams (Myles); special aunts: Bea and Gladys. Uncle Peter will also be missed by a large circle of nieces and nephews in Canada and England, and by many of his "old buddies" all around the world. Thank you to family and friends, who helped to fulfill Peter's last wishes. Thank you also, to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre and the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, and to Erin and staff at Barrett's Funeral Home, once again. At Peter's request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
