It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Pauline 'Polly' McNeil on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 78.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late John (Henis) and Katie (Deveaux) Bresowar.
She owned and operated Bresowar’s store on Roaches Road for many years, relocating to Hamilton, Ont. in 1974. During her time in Ontario, she managed a small grocery store until returning home to Cape Breton in the early 1980s. Mom enjoyed bingo, a good game of poker, and was an avid tarabish player.
Pauline is survived by her children, Glenda (Francis) Romard, Donna (Ken) Stiles, Gerard (Grant) and Cordell McNeil; brothers, John 'Junior' (Lizzie) and Melvin (Cathy) Bresowar; sister, Judy (Leonard) McLellan; grandchildren, Kyla Romard, Catherine, Victoria, Ty Stiles, Michael McNeil, Rebekka Vissers, Mary Ellen Marsh, Blaire Lindsay Cooke; 12 great-grandchildren as well as lifelong friends, Verna and Polly.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her children’s father, Michael 'Eddie Bull' McNeil; longtime companion, Charles Parish; grandparents, John and Catherine (Durner) Bresowar; Lubin and Emelie (Muise) Deveaux; grandson, Marcus Stiles; brother, Wayne in infancy and great-grandson, Kendrick Gethers in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating, followed by a luncheon at the K.O.C Hall Plummer Ave. All are welcome. Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
