BALEMANS, FRANCISCUS
With sadness the family announces the passing of Franciscus C. Balemans, husband of the late Antonia (Nouws) Balemans, which occurred on Monday January 11, 2016 at Turnbull Nursing Home. Born 1926 in the Netherlands, he was the son of the late Wilhelmus and Petronella (VanNynatten) Balemans.
Francis was a veteran of the Canadian Army serving in Indonesia. He and Antonia, along with their three young children immigrated to Canada through Pier 21 in April of 1954. He was a farmer and business man starting Balemans Produce in the City Market in the late 50’s.
He is survived by his children, Frieda (Bill) London, Gonda, Bill (Lorna), Robert (Belinda), Ralph (Tammy), Tony (Lynn), Francis Jr., John (Stella), Mark (Wendy), Greg (Shelley), Janet (Kurt) Russell and Nick (Sue); 32 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; his second wife Katrina Belding and their children Allerliefste, Francisca and Bale; five brothers and four sisters of the Netherlands.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by five brothers, a sister and a daughter-in-law Rose.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home on Thursday January 14, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be held in the spring.
