MARR, KATHLEEN JULIA
Kathleen Julia Marr, wife of the late William E. Marr, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Turnbull Nursing Home, with her family by her side. Born on May 8, 1929 in Lower Kars, NB, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Georgia (Urquhart) Van Wart.
Her parents owned a strawberry farm and because of childhood asthma, which she battled all her life, she moved to Saint John at the age of 15 where she completed high school and began a career in hairdressing. Her love of this vocation was apparent by her personal desire to look good at all times. She was an avid knitter and all of her grandchildren benefitted from the many sweaters and socks she lovingly made for them.
Kay is survived by her three sons: Bill (Roxy) Terry (Dianna) and Allan (Tammy), seven grandchildren: Kerrie (Dave) and Ian (Dana) of Westfield, Danny and Elizabeth of Saint John, Aynsley of Moncton and Alex and Simon of Halifax, three great grandchildren: Ariona, Anderson, and Jase. She will be missed by her brother Roy Van Wart and his wife Carol of Lower Kars, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Ethel Simmons and her brother Walter within the past year and her oldest brother Dalton Van Wart several years ago.
As was her wish, there will be no visitation at the funeral home and a private family service will be held at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road (634-7425), following cremation.
