Genevieve Caseley
Genevieve's spirit was strong, her mind sharp, but with her body weakened by time, her heart took its final beat, Thursday January 7, 2016. She was 86. Genevieve was born July 22, 1929 in Summerside PEI, and raised in Indian River PEI. She was the eldest daughter in a family of 3 boys and 7 girls. In the mid 1950's, Gen along with her husband (Eric) and young son (Gary) moved out west to Edmonton, where she would live for the remainder of her life. Shortly after the birth of her second child (David) she began working at the then new, Beverly Crest Motor Hotel, until retiring in 1994. It seemed like everyone in Beverly knew "Gen from the Crest", and she was sure she knew everyone in Beverly! Genevieve's wonderful legacy will be one of appreciation for what she had, rather then what she didn't. She was a tireless worker who took great pride in "doing it right", and "finishing what you started". Tougher than a UFC fighter, she rarely complained and faced hardship and adversity with grace and dignity. Although firm when it was required, Gen was a gentle soul, with a playful sense of humor, a quick wit, filled with love and a loyal friend. She will be greatly missed and always remembered by her many friends and family, especially by her grandchildren, who gave her so much joy. Genevieve was predeceased by her parents; Frank Jordan and Euphoria MacKinnon, brothers; Bruce, William and Charles Jordan, sisters; Stella Rinaldo, Shirley Gabrial, son Gary (Debbie). She is survived by her sisters; Beatrice Kennedy, Dolly Scott, Audrey Jordan and June Gillis, special companion Russ Porisky, son David, daughter –in- law Jodi, grandchildren; Kyla, Kasia, Brooks, Brynn and Justine, great grandsons Kayden and Jamal. The family would like to acknowledge and thank all the outstanding people who provide front line medical services in such a professional, compassionate manner. In lieu of cards and flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mazankowski Heart Institute , www.GiveToMaz.ca, in Genevieve's memory. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held in the Spring.
