Lena Olive 'Ollie' (Crane) Drover

Lena Olive 'Ollie' (Crane) Drover

Passed on: January 25th, 2016

It is with heavy hearts and sad souls that we, the family, announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Lena Olive (Crane) Drover. Heaven gained our angel on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, and as a family, we band together with love and strength.
Ollie was the foundation of our family. Her kind spirit, unwavering strength and stubborn warmth is carried in each of our hearts. She was a bingo enthusiast, a soap story lover and her upside down smile was contagious.
Ollie was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and an associate member of Branch 128, Whitney Pier. Many memories were made traveling around Canada with her loving husband of 61 years. As a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church, her faith grew strong, which she passed along to her children and grandchildren. To help her family, she worked an array of jobs from “Willies” store to baking bread and one could bet, that no matter what she was doing, her heart was always fully in it.
Olive is survived by her daughters, Lena Pierre and Barbara Skeete (James Lawrence); sons, Thomas (Donna), John (Kelly), Bert (Helen) and Robert (Darlene); sisters, Hazel Kozera, Geraldine Ayre, Linda Henderson (Ivan), Anne MacDonald (Robert) and Shirley Gardiner (Dave); brothers, Alonzo, Willie (Tony), John (Dorris), Robert (Vangie) and Ronnie (Helen). She was the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Olive was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Bertram 'Bert' Drover; sisters, Rosie MacAskill and Gertie Mollons; brother, George; grandson, Corey Skeete; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Alban’s Anglican Church on Saturday 2 p.m., with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Alban’s Anglican Church or a charity of your choice.
