NICKERSON, Gertrude Helena, 83 of Bay Side Home, Barrington formerly of Woods Harbour died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born at Newellton, she was a daughter of the late James and Isaline (Newell) Ross. She was a member of the Calvary United Baptist Church, Woods Harbour, where she was a treasurer for many years. She worked as a switchboard operator. She was an avid reader and was the first resident in the Roseway Manor to have her own computer. She enjoyed Facebook and enjoyed talking to her friends and was very devoted to her family. She was also an avid Blue Jays fan. She was a beloved mother of sons, Garth (Doris), Middle East Pubnico, Cooper (Connie), Waterville, Ont., Craig (Janie), Charlesville; daughter, Lana (Gary) Sears, Clark’s Harbour. She is also survived by sisters, Joyce (Wilbert) Sears, Shag Harbour, Marie (Sheldon) Nickerson, Woods Harbour, Juanita (Donnie) Shortliffe, Shelburne; grandchildren, Yvette, Heather, Victoria, Cara, Stephanie, Sheena, Robin, Santana, Brandon, Chad, Caleb, Raven, Mason; 19 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leighton; brothers, Allan, Stanley; sister, Avis. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral Service will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, February 10 from the Calvary United Baptist Church, Woods Harbour, Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Woods Harbour. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Barrington.
