DOIRON, JEAN "JOHN"
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Jean Marie "John" Doiron of Rowley, NB on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. John was born on July 17, 1944 in Saint Simon, NB to the late Dominique and Alice (Gallien) Doiron.
John served the Canadian Armed Forces for 30 years. Upon retirement he continued working as a member of the Corps Commissionaires followed by Windham World Wide for an additional 12 years. He was active with the Sea Cadets and Navy League.
John was a man who rejoiced in the simple treasures that life blessed him with throughout his years. He enjoyed most of all being outdoors and experiencing all of its beauty. Among his favorite ways to spend time were fishing mackerel out of the Bay of Fundy, visiting trout streams and feeding the birds who had come to trust him. He actively fostered within his children and grandchildren a love for science, astronomy and nature, guiding them toward a vast appreciation of all life's beauty. Family, traditions and Acadian roots comprised a strong foundation of his identity from which he built a life of love.
John is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia and children, Cynthia (Peter Davis), Christina (Cameron Ellis) and Christopher; grandchildren Carol, Fiona, Joseph, Michael, Nicholas, and Gwendolyn; sisters Valentine (Biel Chiasson), Angelie (Amedee Lanteigne), Fernande (Valmond Chiasson), Linda , Arianna (Walter Niekrenz), and Elsia (Robert); brothers Raoul (Marielle Chiasson), Antonio (Marthe Chiasson), Jean-Claude (Claudine Mallet) and Paul; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by one son, Curtis; daughter Cheryl; brothers, Clarence, Sylvano and Sylvano: and sisters, Eglantine Duguay, and Linova.
Visitation will take place at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street (634-1965) on Monday February 15, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 12:10 Noon.
