It is with great sadness, we the family, wish to announce the peaceful passing of Martina Tina' Evelyn Donovan, age 71, loving mother, grandmother and sister on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 at Northside General Hospital.
Born at home in Frenchvale on April 24, 1944, she was predeceased by her parents Martin and Mary Gouthro as well as a sister Josephine and brother Fredrick.
Tina was a single parent for over 40 years to her three proud and eternally grateful sons; Shawn (Caroline), Ottawa, Ronald (Lynn), Sydney Mines and John (Angela), Cambridge. Tina also leaves behind four beautiful grandchildren, Luke, Emma, Shawn Jamie and Edward. Also left to mourn are her sisters Mildred MacKinnon, Westmount, Regina Cann (Cecil) and brother Thomas (Peggy) Gouthro, North Sydney, nieces and nephews.
The entire Donovan and Gouthro families would like to thank the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Centre, Northside General Hospital as well as VON, mom’s home and palliative care teams. Your patience, compassion and understanding were immeasurable and will not be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place. As per mom’s wishes there will be no visitation and a celebration of her life will take place at St Mary’s Parish, Frenchvale at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
