RUDOLF (RUDI) STURM

RUDOLF (RUDI) STURM

January 12, 1947 – January 28, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Rudi Sturm on January 28, 2016 in Sechelt Hospital after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 46 years, Lynne, their son Sean (Krista) and his beloved grandchildren. Rudi is also survived by his sister, Monika Gock (Edward), his nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins here and in Germany.
After Rudi retired from the VPD in 1997, he returned to the things he loved, his family and friends, his many pets, the cabin, his art, football and volunteering in the community. In 2012, Rudi and Lynne moved to Halfmoon Bay and embraced the Coast life with enthusiasm. He spent many hours on the beaches and trails up and down the Coast searching for the right piece of wood to carve. His Tuesday morning coffee with friends at the Strait was one of his favourite social events. Rudi was also a member of the Mt. Elphinstone Masonic Lodge #130. Rudi loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a big man with a bigger heart and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Special thanks to the Palliative/Home Care staff and Hospice volunteers whose support was so appreciated on our journey.
For his friends and family on the Coast, there will be a gathering at Lynne and Rudi’s home in Halfmoon Bay on Sunday, February 28 from 1pm to 4pm.
