New Glasgow - Martha Veronica Josey, age 88, of the Glen Haven Manor, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, in the Manor.
Born August 11, 1927 in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Ranny and Teresa (MacPherson) MacDonald.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Josey (John Gerroir); sister, Peggy, Truro; brother, Archie, New Waterford; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald; sisters: Gertrude, Taty, Teasy, Doreen and Mary; brothers: Sharky, Buddy, Ernie and Junior.
After graduating from high school, Martha embarked on a nursing career that took her from New Waterford to Hamilton, where she became and RN in 1947. From there she nursed at the VG in Halifax and then the hospital in Sheet Harbour, where she met and married her husband, Donald Josey, and went on to raise her daughter, Patricia.
Martha loved to travel and spent part of every summer travelling with her family throughout the U.S. Many of her favorite times were spent at her home in Sydney with family and friends by the backyard pool. Martha loved to dance, crochet, read and garden. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh.
A service will be held in New Waterford at a later date with burial in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
