Our beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, Miller Centre, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents Helen Mary (Blackmore) and William Paul. Leaving to mourn, his wife Marilyn (Vardy); children Bill (Kimberly), Lesley and granddaughter Alice, the light of his life; sisters Karyn Martin (John) and Andrea Quigley (David); brothers Gary (Nancy), and David (Heather) along with a large circle of extended family and friends. Our family will be forever grateful to all the staff at the Leonard A. Miller Palliative Care Unit and Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre for their exceptional care of Bill. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Monday, February 22, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. All are welcome to join Bill's family for a celebration of his life at Lester's Farm Chalet, 92 Pearltown Road, on Tuesday, February 23 at 2 pm. Interment of his ashes will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Leonard A. Miller Palliative Care Unit, the SPCA, or the Canadian Mental Health Association. Bill, who had a long and happy career as a helicopter engineer, will be remembered for his love of music, hiking and kayaking; his unparallelled computer abilities (and helping those who lack them); his uncanny talent to be able to "put an ass in a cat" and his love and devotion for his family and friends.
