James Joseph Farrell

Passed on: February 22nd, 2016

Passed away and was happily reunited with his wife Catherine, who departed August 15, 2014. He will be forever missed by his six children Helen (Gerry Brennan) of St. John's, Laura (Dale Lyttle) of Seaforth, ON, Dody (James Smith) of Los Angeles, CA, Joanne (Jim Wetteroff) of Laval, QC, Dr. Jim Farrell of St. John's and Krista (Pat Thompson) of Ottawa, ON; his six granddaughters Maura, Hannah, Marin, Rowan, Bridget and Elizabeth; his sister Laura and sisters-in-law Rosemary, Betty and Helen (Damian) Ryan; brothers-in-law Arthur (Ann) Bitsack and Patrick (Lynn) Bolger. Predeceased by his parents James and Mary Farrell; all seven brothers William, John Patrick, Dick, Aloysius, Hughie, Frank, Dan and sister Mary. Jim had a strong faith in God and family. His sharp wit and creativity were sure to bring a smile to the faces of those who spent time with him. Little Bay held a special place in his heart where now he has been laid to rest. The family would like to thank Dr. Paula Walsh (Edwards) who always made him feel important and "better". Special thanks to Doctors Morkar, Yegappan, Fox and Bergstrom for your care. Thank you to the nurses at St. Clare's Hospital especially his niece Danielle and the nurses on 7 west Eileen, Debbie and student nurse Maria. Your compassion and care will be remembered always. ICU nurse Joanne who allowed Dad to keep his dignity even while being so sick. Resting and visitation will take place from Wiseman's Funeral Home in Marystown on Wednesday, February 24th from 3-9 p.m., Thursday, February 25th from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Marystown, on Friday, February 26th, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery in Little Bay. In James' memory donations may be made to the Little Bay Cemetery Fund or St. Bonaventure's College, St. John's or flowers gratefully accepted. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Wiseman's Funeral Homes, Marystown.
