Passed peacefully away on Friday, February 26th, 2016 at the Palliative Care Unit, L. A. Miller Centre after a courageous battle with cancer, Edward Slaney, aged 51 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Lydia; brothers, Alexander, Dermott and Dale; father-in-law, Clarence Churchill and foster mother Vera White. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 23 years, Dorothy (Churchill); one sister, Charlene Slaney; three brothers: Jeffrey Slaney, Calvin Slaney and Richie Slaney; mother-in-law Lorraine Churchill; five sisters-in-law: Debbie Mitchell, Carrie Abbott, Margie Abbott, April Stanford and Wanda Collins; three brothers-in-law: Clarence Churchill Jr., Levi Crane and George Churchill; aunts, Dorothy Crane and Mary Slaney; also many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Special thank you to the staff and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Centre for the care and support shown to Edward and his family during his stay. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 28th and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, February 29th. Funeral service on Tuesday, March 1st, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
