SCHIPPEL, ERNA
The death of Erna Margarete Irmgard Schippel occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Born in Germany on June 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Melanie (Grenzmann) May and wife to Paul Schippel.
Erna is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul; her daughter, Juanita Gaudet (Hardy) of Jewetts Mills, NB; grandchildren, Alesha Gaudet (Scott Rawlins) and Ashley Gaudet; one great-grandchild, Gavin Gaudet; one sister Elisabeth Lohse; sisters-in-law, Hanna May and Christa Schippel as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Harald and Horst May and brothers in law Helmut Lohse and Helmut Schippel.
In 1956, Erna immigrated to Canada. Paul and Erna eventually settled in Oromocto, NB with daughter Juanita. Erna called Oromocto home for more than 40 years and is where she made many lifelong friends. Erna (Oma) will be remembered as a dedicated grandmother, for her love of baking and German cooking, and her beautiful gardens.

Visitation will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1, from 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, March 2 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception. The Ven. John Sharpe will officiate.
