It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother. Jane (Janey) passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, at the age of 87 with her family by her side. Janey was born in Cabri, SK, the third of seven children and raised on the family farm near Lancer. She attended Wayne Valley School, located right on a corner of the family farm and went on to the Convent in Swift Current. Jane moved to Saskatoon to become a proud graduate of the St. Paul’s School of Nursing (class of 1951). She worked at City Hospital and for many years at the Saskatoon Community Clinic. Jane is lovingly remembered by her children, Cheryl (Elwood) Redekopp, Scott (Gerry McNally) and Doug; grandchildren, Alanna (John) Coode and Drew Davidson (Lisa Koroll), Joey (Ashley) Holbird, Trent Holbird, and Samantha Holbird (Jeff Marciniuk), Joel Holbird (and their mother Susan); great-grandchildren, Ethan, Zoey, Emma and Leah; sister, Kathleen (Ed) Schwab, Swift Current; brother, Howie (Barbara) Powell, Swift Current; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Janey was predeceased by Allen Holbird, Willie (Bill) Hoogeveen; her parents, Jenkin and Isabelle Powell; her brother Graham; and sisters, Meryl Campion, Frances Myhr and Gaylynne Powell. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the United Church in Lancer, SK. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, Alumni Scholarship (1702 - 20th St West, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9), Saskatoon Community Clinic Foundation (455 - 2ND Ave North Saskatoon, SK S7K 2C2), the Lancer cemetery or the Lancer Museum.
