Douglas Earl 'Doug' Apblett, 82, passed away peacefully at the Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, O’Leary, P.E.I., on Friday, March 11, 2016.
He was born Aug. 23, 1933 to Robert and Gertrude (Belbin) Apblett in Whitney Pier, Sydney. Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing bridge, curling, reading westerns and spending time with his family. He was a firefighter in the Armed Forces and in Civil Service. He lived in many locations; N.S., P.E.I., N.B., Alta., Man., and Germany.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen (Clements); his sons, John (Monique Richard), Beaverbrook, N.B. and Allen (Natalie Mackenzie), Stillwater, OK; daughter, Louise (Craig Hall), Mount Pleasant, P.E.I.; grandchildren, David, Nicole and Laura; great-grandchildren, Vienna, Knox and Beckham; sisters, Joyce Haughton and Gwen Morrison; as well as many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sons, Douglas Edward 'Little Dougie' in infancy and Alexander 'Alex' Robert and sister, Gladys in infancy.
A time of gathering and remembrance will be announced for a graveside service at a later date.
