COLPITTS, GORDON "DOC"
Gordon Amos "Doc" Colpitts, 90, of Salisbury went peacefully home to be with his Lord on March 14, 2016, at the Chalmers Hospital Fredericton after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born April 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Edward Walton and Clara (Rogers) Colpitts.
Doc was a WWII Veteran serving in the Royal Canadian Navy. He worked at CNR for many years as a mechanic, a member of the Salisbury United Church and a Lifetime member of the Salisbury Lions Club where you would find him washing dishes for the pancake breakfasts. He was a son, brother, faithful husband, Dad, Grampie, Great-Grampie, friend, uncle, pie maker, bowler and Mr. Fix-it who touched many lives with his caring and gentle spirit. Doc had a wonderful servant heart for his family, friends and community. His commitment, reliability, and never-give-up attitude was evidenced by how he lived his life. Even after his diagnosis of cancer he continued to care for his wife.
Survived by his wife Evelyn (Crossman); children Barbara (Jim) Neill of Hampton, Bruce (Anna Marie) and Benson (Pamela) of Fredericton, Beverly (Yvon) Bernard of Salisbury; step-children Charles (Nadine) Crossman and Richard (Sharon) Crossman of Wheaton Settlement; grandchildren Jonathan, Meaghan, Christy, Donnie, Adriane, Alexander, Candace, Alana, Ashlee, Isaac, Nathan and Joshua; great-grandchildren Casey, Teddy, James, Tegan and Claire; brother Jamie (Edris) Colpitts of Moncton and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his first wife Eleanor (Good); grandsons Jeremy and Justin; brothers Louis and Bill; sisters Greta, Iva, Eva and Dora and step-daughter Bernice Hull.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) visiting will be Thursday, March 17 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. A tribute to a veteran service will be held Thursday at 7 pm. The funeral will be held Friday, March 18 at 11 am in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at Fair Haven Cemetery.
