It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Philip Nichol, loving son and brother on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, following a brief battle with cancer.
Born in North Sydney, on May 10, 1962, he was the son of Georgina (MacInnis) Nichol, North Sydney and the late William Nichol.
Phil was a well known resident of North Sydney and was often spotted downtown and at Tim Hortons. He enjoyed attending Crossroads in Sydney and was a member of Holy Family parish in Sydney Mines.
Besides his mother, Georgina, he is survived by his brother, Bill (Debbie) Nichol and his sister, June Nichol, both of North Sydney.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Sydney Mines, with Rev. James Oliver officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
