SAINT-LOUIS-DE-KENT – Sylvain Vautour, 85, of Saint-Louis-de-Kent passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Dr. George-L.-Dumont University Hospital on March 25th, 2016. Born in Claire Fontaine, he was the son of the late Jerry and Josephine (Daigle) Vautour. Sylvain worked as a carpenter for the Kouchibouguac National Park until retiring.
Sylvain will be missed by his loving wife, Mildred (nee Stewart); four daughters, Joyce Comeau (Normand) of Richibucto, Shirley Vautour (Margaret) of St.-Charles, Connie Vautour (France) of Cap-St.-Louis and Sylvia Meunier (Douglas) of St.-Louis; his seven sons, Howard (Nora), Aden (Anne-Marie), both of St.-Louis, Lloyd (Dorina) of Barnaby, Leo (Gisèle) of Aldouane, Robert (Ginette) of Shediac, Malcolm (Tina) of Tracadie and Kevin (Lisette) of Baie-Ste.-Anne. He will also be missed by his 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four step grandchildren.
Sylvain is also survived by his sister, Imelda Arseneault (late Camille) of St.-Louis; and his two brothers, Arthur (late Mona) of St.-Louis and Haze (Hazel) of Kent Junction; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Sylvain is predeceased by two sisters, Marie-Anne Vautour and Bertha Stewart; as well as four brothers, Tom, Ange, Alphée and Little Haze.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Memorial Home, St.-Louis on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm and on Wednesday from 2:00pm until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 30th, 2016 at 4:00pm, Saint-Louis-des-Français Roman Catholic Church, Saint-Louis-de-Kent with interment to be held later in the spring at the Claire Fontaine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Kouchibouguac. Donations in Sylvain’s memory made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
