The family of the late Clyde Simmons regret to announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his children: Vic (Georgina), Lorraine (Gary), and Clyde (Heidi Staeben-Simmons); his grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Christa Curnew (Jonathan), Stephanie Dawe (Christopher), and Stephen (Stephanie), Nadine Perrett (Bill), Michelle MacDonald (Darren), and Heather, Claire, and Kyle Simmons; his great-grandchildren: Avery, Nicholas, and Olivia, Andi, Hannah, Billy, and Jorja, and Ryland, Jeremy, and Lyndsay. Clyde will be missed by his brothers and sister, as well as a large circle of family and friends, especially his friends at the Lohnes Complex where he resided, and special family members, Hilda Simmons and Gerald Power. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Elsie (2011), and children, Robert (2008) and Perry (1970). Clyde will always be remembered for his love of the Newfoundland outdoors where he spent many years hunting, fishing and enjoying their cottage in Howley. He was a devoted family man and shared his love of nature with those around him. The family will be receiving friends at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from Country Haven Funeral Chapel, with Captains Cory and Pamela Pinksen officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation, the Alzheimer's Society, or the Children's Wish Foundation.
