It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emily Virtue Stride announce her passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the age of 86 years. She leaves to mourn her sister Inez Carter; brother Hughie Payne (Rose); nieces: Shirley Stride (Earle), Robin Hiscock, Sherry Decker, Pauline Payne, Bonita Costello, Marion Noftall, and Hazel Manuel; nephews: Monty Payne, Brian Payne, Blair Payne, and Allan Carter, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph; sister Hazel Payne; brother George Payne (Elizabeth), and brother-in-law Pierce Carter. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Thursday, between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from First United Church, Park Street, with Reverend John VanVliet officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
