It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Frank Bernard, age 77 of Wagmatcook. Lawrence died April 2, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Baddeck, N.S., he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Bernard. He was a member of Blessed Kateri Tekekwitha Parish, Wagmatcook.
Lawrence is survived by sons, Winston (Charlotte Bright), Allister, Rodney and Spencer; daughter, Lorraine Bernard (Francis Bright); brothers, Phillip, Wilfred, David, Vincent and Houlton; sisters, Judy Googoo, Carol Johnson and Alexandria Bernard. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Edwin Bernard, Madison Bernard, Charlize Bernard, Devon Isadore, Winston Isadore (Tyler), Chastity Isadore, Jake Bernard, Heather Bernard, Natalie Bernard and Kathy Bright; 13 great-grandchildren, Scarlett Rose Bright, Elianna Francis, Damian Bernard, Averyanna Bernard, Koda Bernard, Talisha Isadore, Shawntia Isadore, Dante Isadore, Keonate Isadore, Xorian Isadore, Emerson Isadore, Shawdai Isadore and Haven Tontarelli.
Besides his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by his wife, Ida Mae Bernard (Simon); son, Lawrence Jr.; sister, Dorothy Basque and brother, Peter Frank.
The body is resting at the Bernard home, 12 Bernard's Lane, Wagmatcook, with visitation hours starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 5th. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on April 7, 2016 at Blessed Kateri Tekekwitha Church, with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial to follow in Queen of The World Cemetery.
