Charles 'Wayne' Corbett, 67, Dartmouth, N.S., passed away suddenly at home, April 15, 2016.
Dad was born in Dominion June 15, 1948, to Charles and Myrtle (Goodwin) Corbett.
He was predeceased by both his parents; his brother, Gregory and his sister, Annabel Golden. Wayne lost the love of his life, Catherine 'Kaye' Ann (MacNeil), Feb. 4, 2003.
Wayne leaves behind his grandsons, David and Breton Bevin; his brothers, Brian (Maureen) and Bob (Norma) Golden; and children Kathleen (Jeff) and David (Tracy).
Wayne retired early from his employment with Maritime Paper Products Dartmouth after 30 years, in 2008. If you asked him, he’d tell you he was a “Professional Boxer.” Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose sense of humour got him and those around him through times both good and bad, and he loved to tell “stories” that he fabricated just to see how long it would take you to realize he’d made them up. Wayne loved the water and made sure he got at least one swim in every summer. He shared with his children his favourite childhood fishing spot in the Mira. Wayne was an avid baseball player in his youth. He played for the “World Famous” Dominion Hawks and coached softball with his brother-in-law Roy in Welland, Ont., in the late 1960s. He also enjoyed watching both his children play ball and was always there to cheer them on. Wayne loved to watch hockey on T.V., especially his favourite team the Wings, and could be found at Robin’s on Braemar daily. Wayne had a soft spot for those in need, and could be counted on to give something to every charity. If he saw you needed a pair of shoes, he’d give you one of his, and he’d offer a ride, a cup of coffee, or just a bit of conversation to someone he felt needed it.
A visitation will take place at Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, from 7-9 p.m. A second visitation and service will take place at V.J.
