The death occurred at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, on Thursday, April 21, 2016, of Doris Hughes, of Summerside, aged 102 years. Born in Fernwood, she was the daughter of the late Swithen and Lily (McBride) McKenna. Survived by her granddaughters Carmen Riedel and Monique Riedel (Rob Lutes); great-grandchildren Cormac and Simone; step-children Lorraine Allen, Marie (Pascual) Rodriguez, Pauline (Peter) Ackermans and Muriel (Richard) Stephenson; several step-grandchildren; special nieces Barbara (Alan) Bowness and Beverly (Barry) MacDonald; and numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Predeceased by first husband Austin Murphy and second husband George Hughes; daughter Dr. Catherine Murphy; sister Myrtle Keough and by brothers Cedric, Fr. Thomas and Everett; and by son-in-law Arnold Allen. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside. Completed funeral arrangements to be announced later. Memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
