1932 - 2016
Madeleine Savoie, 84, of Moncton, and formerly of Campbellton, NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, with her loving family at her side, on Sunday April 24, 2016. Born on April 2, 1932 in Campbellton, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Georges-L. Dumont and late Elizabeth St-Pierre.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Walter, her children: Marthe of Moncton, Pauline of Dieppe, Yves (Steve) of Toronto, Claire of Moncton and Hélène (Stan) of Dieppe; her five grandchildren: Mélanie, Julie, Philippe, Isabelle and Félix; her three sisters: Françoise (late Henri-Louis Guilmette) of Québec, Louise (late Douglas Rankin) of Ottawa and Monique Dumont Girouard of Moncton; one brother Jacques (Micheline) of Arizona and her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Father Jean-Marie Dumont (c.j.m.), her sister Sr. Thérèse Dumont (f.m.a.) and her niece Louise Guilmette.
Upon completing her Nursing degree, she worked as a pediatric nurse and then for her father during his political tenure. For more than 30 years, she collaborated in the success of the family business Savoie Varieties. She was also very present at home for her children’s education and well-being. Later, she resumed her nursing practice at the Pavillon des Filles-Marie-de-l’Assomption in Campbellton.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix R.C. church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton on Thursday, April 28 at 11 am. Interment will be at Our Lady of Snow cemetery in Campbellton.

The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC for the excellent medical care she received during her stay. A special thank you to the entire staff of the Villa du Repos where she was residing with her loving husband since 2012.
