We as a family are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear brother and uncle, Henry Kevin Devoe, on Saturday May 7, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, at the age of 72.
Born in Bras d’Or, he was the son of the late Harry and Florence (Marsh) Devoe.
Kevin spent 40 years sailing on the Great Lakes, returning home to Cape Breton to retire. He was a proud member of the Northside Kiwanis Golden K Club, he enjoyed volunteering with their Meals on Wheels Program, with his good friend Walter Eveleigh and Bowling for Big Brothers and Sisters. Kevin was also a volunteer at the North Sydney Food Bank.
He was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays but only when they were winning.
Kevin will be sadly missed by his caring sisters, Joyce Poole (Doug), North Sydney, Beverly McGrath (James), Niagara Falls, Angie MacNeil (Jack), Big Pond Center, Brenda Sexton (Glenn), Georges River, Mabel D’Eon (Gerald), Kempt Head, Lorraine Doyle (Gerard), Waverley, Jane McNeil (Gary), Alder Point and his only brother, Brian (Jane), Whitby, Ont. Along with 19 nieces and nephews and their families.
Besides his parents Kevin was predeceased by his sister Theresa.
The family would like to thank the EHS and the wonderful staff of the ER and ICU departments of Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
As per Kevin’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. A reception will follow in Bras d’Or Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the North Sydney Food Bank.
