Ingiborg McDonald

Passed on: May 10th, 2016

Ingibjorg McDonald (nee Thorarinsson)
Dec 23 1919 – May 10 2016
Inga passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 10 in Saskatoon. Mom now enjoys reuniting, in heaven, with her beloved husband Keith (1981) daughter Kris (2016), son Bob (2012), parents Kristin and Sigtryggur, and siblings Marie and Thor. She is survived by sons Dan (Blanche) and Alan (Deborah); 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Mom was born in Riverton MB and moved to Winnipeg during WW2 where she met Dad while roller skating. They had 38 happy years together while living in Saskatoon, Regina and Moose Jaw. Mom and Dad loved to travel and after his passing she enjoyed cruises and trips with family and friends. One adventure involved riding camels in the Australian Dessert.
During times of medical crisis Mom devoted all her love and energy to nursing her children back to health. Because of her tireless night and day care her children survived polio, severe milk allergy and scarlet fever.
Mom was an upbeat, positive person who saw the very best in everyone. All four of her kids believed they were the favourite child. She loved her grandchildren and as the many great grandkids came along they were often referred to as the “little girl” or “little boy”. Mom was grateful for all the friends and neighbours she had over the years.
She was a master bridge player and loved reading, doing crosswords and playing Scrabble and Wizard. Her cooking and baking were legendary, everyone loved her cinnamon buns and bread and pies.
Blessed with strong Viking genes, Inga enjoyed 95 years of very good health and enjoyment. After a fall Mom spent the last 18 months in the Stonebridge Crossing Retirement Home. Many, many thanks to their excellent staff for providing mother with the highest level of loving and tender care.
The Memorial will be held at Saint Philip Neri church at Taylor and Munroe on Saturday May 21 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Mom’s name to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements in care of MARTENS WARMAN FUNERAL HOME (306-934-4888).
