New Glasgow - Irene Isabel Rankin, of Hospital Ave., formerly of View Street, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 16, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, May 20, 1917, she was a daughter of Dougald and Jane (McEwan) MacDonald.
She was employee an of Goodman Co. for 44 years but her main devotion in life was the care of her family.
She was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving is her sister, Marion of Burks Falls, Ontario; special friends, Phyllis Glenn, Jean and Linda Fraser and Freda McIntyre. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by husband Robert (Bob) Rankin; sister, Florence; brother, Harry.
Visitation will take place 7-9 pm Wednesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Thursday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
