BAKER, JAMES DOUGLAS
At University of Alberta hospital on February 17, 2016 from cancer. Born in Halifax NS on December 26, 1947, he was the son of the late James R. and Helen R. (Ritchie) Baker.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Gail E. Baker (Gorman); sister, Elizabeth A. Doucette (Tweedside NB); brother, John C. Baker (Hartland Me); two daughters, Natalie E. McMurtry, Patricia A. C. Baker (Edmonton AB, Vancouver BC); and a son, W. James Baker (Burnaby BC). He will be fondly remembered by his sister's spouse, Des Doucette; his brother's spouse, Gretchen Baker; five nieces, Krista, Angie, Megan, Katie, Maille, and three nephews, Kevin, Simon, Braec and their families; his children's spouses, Sean McMurtry, Morgan Goldie, Sarah Wun; along with six grandchildren, Thomas, Ella, Kate and Ian McMurtry, Owen and Maggie Goldie; aunt, Ruth Ritchie; aunt and uncle, Barbara and Cedric Ritchie; cousins, Heather Walton, Kim Persky and their families.
He attended Dalhousie University (BSc), and was an entrepreneur with an exciting career out of Fredericton NB, largely in the road building and environmental fields. He loved dogs and horses, and was a supporter of local youth activities. Family and friends were most important to him, he was passionate and dedicated in doing all that he could for them; he was smart and had humorous diction.
A memorial service will be held at the family home on Oromoncto Lake; Lot 60, Lane 23, Tweedside Road, Harvey NB on August 22, 2016 at 2 pm.
