DONNA MAE FLORENCE TOMBE (nee Lovely)

DONNA MAE FLORENCE TOMBE (nee Lovely)

July 27, 1935 – May 9, 2016
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Donna at her home in Madeira Park on May 9, 2016 with her family by her side.
Predeceased by her husband Victor. She is survived by her four children, Michael (Pitt Meadows, B.C.), Patrick (Merritt, B.C.), Timothy (Westbank, B.C.) and Susan (Speke of Maple Ridge, B.C.) and her brother Leroy Lovely, of Chemainus, B.C. as well as 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
After Mom retired from corrections (she was a prison guard for 10 years), she and dad moved to Madeira Park in 1985. They were the managers of Coho Marina in Madeira Park for a spell, just prior to constructing their home which they built by their own hands in 1989. They had frequented Madeira Park for some years prior and were attracted by the friendliness of the people as well as the fishing and slower pace of life. In fact, prior to moving there, they had built many a fine boat and had cruised and fished the area, sometimes for months at a time.
Mom was an avid card player with a sharp mind that survived until the very end. She enjoyed serving the Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years.
The children wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the palliative care and home care teams, the incredible nurses of Pender Harbour, as well as her special neighbours and caring friends for helping to honor her wishes to be cared for in her home.
