Cherished son, brother, uncle and nephew. Passed away suddenly but peacefully on May 19, 2016, in Calgary, AB, in his 54th year. Predeceased by father Ernest A. Rideout, July 5, 1970. Leaving heartbroken but with many beautiful memories, his loving mother Elizabeth Eavis (nee Hall), sister Suzanne Stacey (children Nicholas and Kara), brother Robert (Bob) (children Rob and Jennifer); sister Nancie and brother in law Andreas Psomopoulos (children Devo and Ariadne) of Brampton, ON; aunts Marie Murphy (late Gerald), Catherine Hodder (Jim), Sheila Lacey (Alex), Joyce Sellars (Cal), many cousins and a huge circle of friends, colleagues and teammates in St. John's and Calgary. The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to John Addy, Jonathan Dutkiewicz and David Schyf-Young of Calgary, AB, as well as Ern's many friends and colleagues in Calgary for their offers of help and assistance to the family at this difficult time. Ern will be remembered for his dry and quick sense of humor, his love of sports (especially his beloved New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Islanders), and his dedication to family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of life service will be held from Barrett's Funeral Home Chapel, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John's, NL on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Burial to take place at a later date. A reception will follow the service at Barrett's Reception Centre, 328 Hamilton Avenue. Donations in Ern's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
