COREY: Irene Isabelle (nee: Hanson) age 91 of Swift Current, SK passed away on May 28, 2016 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. The graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 1, 2016 from Memory Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Bob Cappelle officiating. Caroline Carter read the eulogy, the pallbearers were Dawson, Delaine and Dylan Corey, Corey Nerada, and Bayne and Dieter Gillanders and honorary pallbearers were Brienna, Brooklyn and Britannia Gillanders, Alexandra, Declan, Cole and Brynn Carter. Irene is survived by her husband of 61 years Robert; son Jerome (Shirley) Corey of Cantuar, SK and their children Dawson and his son Dylan and Delaine; daughters Angela (Gale) Nerada of Cantuar, SK and their son Corey, Marlene (Bayne) Gillanders of Kyle, SK and their children Dieter, Brienna, Brooklyn and Britannia, Rosanne Corey of Calgary, AB, and Caroline (Grant) Carter of Atlanta, GA and their children Alexandra, Declan, Cole and Brynn. She is predeceased by her parents Anton and Matilda Hanson; brothers Melvin and Clarence Hanson; and sister Evelyn Watson. Irene attended Valva School and Beattie Collegiate. She was then swept off her feet by the love of her life Robert Corey and they were united in marriage on June 25, 1954 in Swift Current. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and shopping. Irene was a loving wife and mother who was adored by all her family members. She was dedicated to raising her family. She worked tirelessly in the early days of her life on the farm milking cows, churning butter, gathering eggs, picking vegetables daily and weeding the garden. Irene enjoyed hosting family dinners during the holidays and making every dish from scratch. Her love of animals was unmatched. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Cypress House and Cypress Regional Hospital, Dr. Bakkare and Dr. Cenkowski for their care of our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The family would also like to thank Warren's Funeral Home for their care and attention during this difficult time. Irene will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
