It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Mary Cassidy, age 90, on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in Florence, on Dec. 14, 1925, Mary was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Stubbert) Young.
Before Mary became ill and moved to the Northside Guest Home, she took great pleasure in the time spent sitting in her yard talking to friends and neighbours, often till after dark.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Bras d’Or.
Mary is survived by her daughter Cathy Fudge, Long Island, by her son Robert (Denise) Cassidy, Long Island, two grandchildren Paul (Lori), Christopher; three great-grandchildren Olivia, Jake and DaniLynn; two brothers, William (Eileen) Young, Sydney Mines, Cyril (Wendy) Young, Alberta and by many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Charles, two sons Cyril and Charles Jr., brothers James and Henry; son-in-law David Fudge and daughter-in-law Paulette Cassidy.
A funeral mass for Mary will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
